The human givens approach to psychotherapy, counselling, education, social work, diplomacy, and any endeavour that involves helping people is explained at the HGI website. The HGI is a members' organisation which welcomes anyone who agrees that many of the structures of our society do not meet the real emotional needs of the population and is interested in using the human givens approach to improve things.

A range of books, cds and videos about the approach can be found here.

This approach has only been available for eight years, so it is early days for formal research results. However, some early data using the ORS/SRS reporting method can be found here at the human givens practice research network. These results are very encouraging; they show that human givens therapy works well and is fast, with an effect size of 1.3 compared to 0.8 for CBT, with a mean number of 3.6 sessions. A second appraisal using the CORE system is just beginning, and a research project is being conducted by the NHS which will yield its first data in 2008.
